We need to stop doing that! Rashford staggered by comeback kings United

 

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford warned his team-mates they cannot keep making life difficult for themselves after another comeback win on the road.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side were abject for the opening 45 minutes at West Ham on Saturday, with Tomas Soucek's goal giving the hosts a deserved lead.

United might have been further behind before Paul Pogba scored a magnificent equaliser from 25 yards and then Mason Greenwood and half-time substitute Rashford completed a 3-1 triumph.

The Red Devils have trailed in each of their five Premier League away games this season but recovered to win all of them, their 15 points gained from losing positions a league high.

"We need to stop doing that," the England international told Sky Sports after United moved into the Premier League's top four.

"If we keep more clean sheets we'll definitely win more games.

"It's good that we show spirit to come back when we concede a goal but ideally we don't want to be conceding."

An injury to Edinson Cavani prompted Rashford's introduction and Solskjaer will count his walking wounded before a potentially pivotal week in their season.

A 3-1 midweek loss at home to Paris Saint-Germain means United must avoid defeat at RB Leipzig to seal qualification for the Champions League knockout stages.

"It's a big game. When you lose a game like we did in the Champions League, it's important to win the next game and we did that that today." Rashford said, with the trip to Germany immediately preceding next weekend's Manchester derby against City at Old Trafford.

"We can look forward to this last game now, go there, enjoy ourselves and hopefully win."

Saturday's game at London Stadium was the first Premier League match to feature supporters in the stands since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, with a restricted attendance of 2,000 socially distanced fans.

"It's something everyone knows the game's missed," added Rashford, who attempted four shots and created one chance. "It's what makes the game so special."

"We were speaking before the game in the changing room and it's a great feeling to have some fans back."

This is the first time since 1985-86 United have won their opening five league away games, with their run of victories away from Old Trafford in the top flight now extended to nine matches going back to last season.
