Premier League Sunday preview: Spurs and Liverpool look to set the pace in the capital

There is a bumper Sunday fixture list in the Premier League with half of the league's sides in action.

Leaders Tottenham and champions Liverpool are both away from home as they take on Crystal Palace and Fulham respectively, while high-flying Southampton host basement boys Sheffield United.

Read on as we preview those games and two others ahead of an exciting day of football.

Southampton vs Sheffield United (Sky Sports, 12pm)

Danny Ings should return to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s starting line-up as Southampton host struggling Sheffield United.

Striker Ings, 28, came off the bench at half-time against Brighton and has netted six goals in eight Premier League appearances so far this season.

His return means Saints have no injury problems to deal with as they look to pile the misery on the struggling Blades.

The visitors are still looking for a first league win of the campaign after Leicester inflicted their 10th defeat in 11 games last weekend with an injury-time winner.

Ethan Ampadu, Enda Stevens and Lys Mousset will all be assessed prior to the clash but have been involved in training this week.

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham (Sky Sports, 2.15pm)

Crystal Palace will want to put recent history behind them and try to beat Tottenham for the first time in 11 attempts at Selhurst Park.

The Eagles have lost nine of their last 10 games against their fellow Londoners and 18 of their last 22 home games against teams in the top four.

While their injury list has eased, with Tyrick Mitchell the only doubt, they know that stopping Harry Kane (pictured above) and Heung-Min Son will be key to their prospects against the league leaders.

The duo have combined for 11 goals this campaign, which is just two behind the record for most goal combinations in an entire Premier League season — set by Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton back in 1994-95 when Blackburn won the league.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is available after being rested on Thursday night but Serge Aurier remains a doubt and Erik Lamela is out.

Fulham vs Liverpool (Sky Sports, 4.30pm)

Fulham will be hoping to cause one of the biggest upsets of the season as they welcome Liverpool to Craven Cottage.

Buoyed by the presence of 2,000 home fans, victory would be the Cottagers' first against the Reds since they did the double over them in 2011-12.

Aside from Kenny Tete and Terence Kongolo, Scott Parker has a fully-fit squad to choose from.

Champions Liverpool may welcome Alisson Becker back between the sticks after he made a quicker than expected recovery from injury.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could also feature for the first time this season but Diogo Jota may miss out after picking up a knock against FC Midtjylland.

The Reds have won their past 18 games against promoted sides and Jurgen Klopp will be keen to avoid a slip as they look to keep pace with Spurs.

Arsenal vs Burnley (Sky Sports, 7.15pm)

Arsenal face Burnley at the Emirates bidding to ease the pressure on Mikel Arteta after a run of four Premier League games without a win.

The Gunners last lost four league home games in a row in 1959 and will be desperate to avoid equalling that record against the Clarets, who have been beaten on their last nine trips to Arsenal.

Nicolas Pepe serves the last game of his suspension and Thomas Partey and David Luiz are also out.

Burnley are the league’s joint-lowest scorers with just five goals this season and risk being cut adrift at the bottom with Fulham, West Brom and Sheffield United.

Sean Dyche has injury problems with Jack Cork out and Robbie Brady, Dale Stephens, Johann Berg Gudmondsson and Phil Bardsley all doubts.

Leicester vs Brighton (7.15pm, Amazon Prime)

After four defeats in six home games, Brendan Rodgers will be keen to see Leicester improve their record when Brighton visit the King Power Stadium.

The Foxes have never lost in the Premier League against the Seagulls and, with no Europa League games until February, will want to make the most of a quieter period.

James Maddison should feature despite missing the AEK Athens victory with an ankle issue, while Timothy Castagne is back in training.

After a controversial defeat to Southampton on Monday, Brighton will hope their impressive away form continues after picking up four wins in their past eight on the road.

Adam Lallana’s groin problem will keep him out of action, while both Alexis Mac Allister and Davy Propper are closing in on a return but will not make this encounter.
